Years ago, in 2000, I had my first web design courses in one of prominent education provider in Jakarta. Of course, it wasn't an HTML training or just how to use web design tools, but rather to a web usability and how we achieve it in our web project.
I was shocked as one of my mentor shown me a book with statement : “Flash: 99% Bad.” written by Jakob Nielsen. Since then, I considered myself as one of his followers and treat his lesson as 'Guru', so NgaduTrafik 2007 would love to share with you what web usability is.
What is Web Usability
I don't wanna give technical definition here, as I know you will get confused on that :).
It's very simple. Web Usability is about interaction between a website
with its visitors (readers). So think about : navigation, the way you
develop the websites, how you transferred information to visitors.

That's why, I still agree that Flash sucks, in terms of web navigation
and interface. It could be very fancy and sexy, but for most of users,
it just so annoying. Keep in mind that users come to your website
because they want to get valuable information, not a flashy image
rotating back and forth.
Who is Jakob Nielsen
Jakob Nielsen is the father of web usability, and his works on this
have been recognized worldwide. He write a web usability newsletter called AlertBox.
The question would be : Do you want your website to get valuable
visitors ?
A website is simply nothing, just a bunch of HTML, images
and scripts, until it gets visitors.
Will it boost my Google Rankings ?
Of course. Think with a logical flow : if your website has a good web
usability guidelines in it, then you will attract visitors. The more
you have visitors, the more Google see the important of your website.

Relation between NgaduTrafik 2007 and Web Usability
Since I got my first lesson in web design and web usability, I always
apply and follow web usability guidelines in all my websites projects.
As my experience, most of the guidelines are very useful for gaining
