Do you know JohnChow.Com ? It's very popular website (it's with PR 7, at least when this article was written), and got top positions in Google for keywords “make money online”. John himself does make bunch of dollars via Internet, and his website claimed as one of a dot com mogul.
But these days, a lot of discussion happened in all SEO forum worldwide regarding his Google penalised activity. Even now, if you search for word John Chow, you don't get his websites in top ten positions. NgaduTrafik 2007 shares with you why and how this could happen.
Why and What does Google Penalise ?
Google now penalised search results for “make money online” and even
John Chow from its searching results, which previously he's very good
on it. This because, in terms of search engine optimization, John does
what we called as paid text links, which he gives to his website
commentators url when they will to pay him a certain amount of money.
According to Google, this is not an ethical SEO and he got banned for
it.
Is Paid Text Links really not allowed ?
This is hard to be answered. If we notice, many people around the world
do exactly the same as what John did. One thing we should really
concern is, Google changes its algorithm frequently, and so as its
rules. We got to keep update with them, and walk by the line. As my
personal belief, John got penalized not just because the paid text
links, but it could be by another resource he did in the past,
including some other black hat activities.
So, what we learn from here ?
Update yourself with new Google terms and conditions, including rules.
As much as you can, do a white hat SEO. Unless you want to take risk
just like John Chow does, don't ever think about doing black hat
techniques whatsoever..
NgaduTrafik 2007 conclusion from JohnChow case is simple : “Ranked by the rules, kicked by the rules.”
