Spiderman 2007 @NgaduTrafik 2007

Everybody loves Spiderman (including my 3 year-old son, Kevin). Besides, who else is the most friendly six-legged creatures around the neighborhood ?

In terms of SEO, spider (also referred as crawler or bot) is the only thing that we should take care of, if you are a good webmaster. Bear in mind that a web spider that crawls your website is a program, or simply a machine that only knows binary numbers 0 and 1.

Below is the guidelines if you want to get your website good ranking and spider friendly :
  • Never use a fancy flash in your landing page (index.html, index.php, etc). Web spider does't know any flash or javascript that bumped to your landing site. If you're still concerning to put flash, choose another page.

  • Your landing page should contains as many keywords you want to target. Just note that too many or too less would harm the spider. You have to feed it well.

  • Like human, web spiders love to eat fresh meals, means you have to update your website in frequent basis, or use some techniques to make your website looks like it's updated daily (read RSS article here)

Now, you must be asking :”Well, so how it looks like ? “

Most web spiders is using lynx, the text based browser that run in mostly unix environment. As it crawls your site page per page, and send whatever it sees to another machine doing extraction and cataloguing. What we see as humans in most of search engine interface (e.g. Google, Yahoo or MSN) is the result of machines doing extraction and cataloguing of millions of websites. And, again, bear in mind, that all of that machines are feed up by the web spider.

OK, so What things you can optimize ?

At least, there are three things that you should, and you are able to- optimize your website.
  • Site Title
Use a descriptive site title, and put your primary keywords here. Don't make it too long, a web spider friendly title should not exceed 80 characters
  • <H1> and/or <H2> tags
Optimize the H1 and/or H2 tags, and put your secondary keywords here.
  • Mainbody text
Your mainbody text should also contain appropriate amounts of your keywords. Don't make it too less, or too much.

OK, if you're ready with above optimization, you can test and see how spider look at your site.
You can use one of web spider simulator here : http://tools.summitmedia.co.uk/spider/

Here is what NgaduTrafik 2007 website report (Click image top open in new window)

Ngadutrafik-2007-spider_400

If your score is less than 60, then you need some workout. If not, then try to optimize by put some good contents that related to your keywords. As you can see, NgaduTrafik2007 score 75% (well good enough to start, but not good as they're many competitors for NgaduTrafik 2007 out there)

Tips :
Try to put your keywords in Body Text (see report above), and that's exactly what spider reads. Feed up the spider with your primary keywords, at the first time it sees your body text
.

Now, are you still looking for the most friendly spider in the neighborhood ?

Spidey
If you notice in the Spiderman 3, the movie, there's a scene where Peter Parker looks exactly like the guy from Good Charlotte..

Add Keyword Rich Content
Simply adding Keywords in the title, metas and body is not a good idea. You should write and add content which uses the important Keywords and variations of those keywords or key phrases.
